Staying in Latvia: Regulations for Non-Eu Citizens
 
If a person is a citizen of a non-EU country and his/her aim is to reside in Latvia for the period of time exceeding 90 days within half a year counting from the first day of entrance he/she has to obtain a residence permit. This document allows a foreigner to stay in Latvia temporary (a temporary residence permit) or permanently (a permanent residence permit).

The documents should be presented in original if the copies are not certified by a notary. The documents issued abroad are generally accepted in Latvian, Russian, English, German or French languages. In other case they have to be translated by an accredited interpreter and accordingly legalized.
