In order to have one’s diploma/qualifications recognized a person has to submit originals or certified copies of an educational document and the transcript of records to the Academic Information Centre. In definite cases these documents need to be translated and legalized. AIC evaluates the qualification of a person corresponding to the one of Latvian equivalent and issues its statement. Afterwards the documents together with this statement are submitted to an educational establishment or a prospective employer.
If the aim of the recognition is the continuation of the studies at primary or secondary level the Ministry of Education and Science takes the final decision about the recognition.
If the aim is to continue the studies in a higher educational institution, then the decision should be taken by the corresponding institution. A prospective employer has the right of recognition if one intends to practice a non-regulated profession.
Note! The evaluation of the documents in the Academic Information Centre is free of charge. Further information about the academic recognition is here.
