Necessary documentation common to all visas
1. Application in correct form (form provided by the Consular Section in case of nationals visa);
2. Passport or a valid identification card (+3 months after the expiry of the visa);
3. Two identical photographs, passport size, in color and in white plain background with a good quality;
4. Title of transportation that ensure their return (except for residence visas for family reunification and for research activity or a teacher in higher education institution or highly qualified);
5. Travel medical insurance;
6. Request for consultation of the Portuguese criminal record by SEF (for Temporary Stay visas and Residence visas);
7. Criminal record certificate from the country of origin or where the applicant resides for more than a year (for residence visas and temporary stay visas);
8. Proof of accommodation conditions;
9. Proof of means of subsistence: documents proving that the applicant possesses sufficient income (the proof of the daily value 40 Euros in cash, “Travelers checks” or internationally accepted credit cards);
10. For minors or incapables, authorization of who exercises parental authority or guardianship.
Note: Minors under 16 years are exempted from submitting the documents concerning their criminal record.
IMPORTANT: ALL VISA APPLICATIONS SHOULD BE INSTRUCTED PERSONALLY BY THE INTERESTED IN THE CONSULATE OF PORTUGAL IN THE AREA OF THEIR RESIDENCE. A PROOF OF RESIDENCE SHOULD BE PRESENTED. REQUESTS FROM FOREIGN WHO DON’T RESIDE LEGALLY IN THE COUNTRY OF ORIGIN ARE NOT ACCEPTED.
