Economical aspects
Mexico is the second largest economy in Latin America. The country has managed to keep on growing, despite the cases of violent crime.
Furthermore it is also the 12th largest economy in the world, with an estimated GDP of US$1.567 trillion in 2010.
The official currency of the country is the Peso.
Throughout history, Mexico has gone through several crisis, but the most notable ones have been the Mexican Peso Crisis during 1994 and the Global Financial Crisis 2008.
Mexico is abundant in resources. It is the worlds greatest producer of silver, and also produces zinc, lead, gold, mercury, coal and copper. However, its primary financial asset since 1970 has been petroleum.
Mexico is considered a newly industrialised country and an emerging potency. In Mexico one of the most important sector is the automotive industry. Also the electronic sector is one of the fastest growing sectors in Mexico.
The service sector contributes around 63% of the GDP, with two of its important sectors coming from the tourism and financial and banking services.
